# Spend limits and alerts

Configure guardrails before allowing an agent to create paid Sessions.

`GET /account/budget` returns limits, estimated accepted spend, pause state, and the next UTC daily reset. `GET /account/usage-alerts` returns crossed thresholds. A purchase that would exceed a configured limit is rejected before provisioning; when `pause_on_exceed` is true the Key is paused for paid creation until its policy is updated with `paused: false`.

Limits are safety controls, not a replacement for the billing ledger. Owners should still require approval for large or unusual purchases.
